Think For Yourself

Critical thinking is a skill that is taught in school. Students are taught how to analyze questions, employ problem solving strategies and other techniques that are a part of thinking critically about a dilemma or other difficult situation. Have you ever been told that you need to think before you act? Many of us were taught that a mind is a terrible thing to waste. Critical thinking is necessary because it is the only way to get the answer that you need to solve your issue.

One of the problems with critical thinking is that you are taught to think a certain way instead of thinking for yourself. The establishments of the world want to do your thinking for you. They create the problem and reaction hoping that you agree with their solution. We are living in different times however history does repeat itself. Never has it been more important to think for yourself.

I read a statement by an industrialist of the early 1900s who said thinking is hard work that is why so few people engage in it (paraphrased). Thinking will cause you to question things more and think deeper about what is being told to you. You will want to do your own investigation about particular matters. Throughout man’s existence, his thinking has been shaped more or less by the agenda of institutions, organizations and corporations.

When someone other than yourself control your thinking, they control your mind. God gave man a brain to think for himself and come to an educated yet common sense result. We rarely question anything in life. We go along with the flow because that is what everyone else is doing. If everyone else is doing it, it must be right. I am learning that what you think about, you bring about. If we don’t think for ourselves someone else will do it for us.

Thinking for yourself has become a lost art. Not only are we not thinking for ourselves, our children are being trained not to think for themselves also. Obviously thinking for yourself is not accomplished overnight, it is a work that require daily diligence.

In conclusion, thinkers are usually leaders. These individuals are in production mode focusing on moving forward in life. They believe in diversity and embrace new challenges. Your mind is too valuable an asset to allow someone else to control it. Think for yourself.
