There are four steps to earning money in network marketing/direct sales. These steps are the reasons why people succeed but also the reasons why people do not. The steps are simple but we often make it hard by getting in the way. The steps are inviting, presenting, collecting a decision, and consistency.

Inviting

The invite is exactly what it means. You are inviting prospects to take a look at your business project and getting their feedback on what they saw. Some will respond back and some won’t. The problem is that most marketers are not inviting enough and regularly. This business requires that you talk to people. This a people business like any other business so you need people. Unfortunately, most networkers think posting their links everywhere on social media and spamming is inviting people to looks their business and it’s not. Inviting and imposing are two different things.

Presenting

Presenting is basically using a video, sizzle call or live meeting to expose your prospect to your opportunity, products and services. The objective is to get more people in front of your presentation with the hopes that they could make an educated decision about your offer. Most networkers are not actively presenting their offers. They’re hoping that people inbox them asking for the presentation link.  The more you present, the more you increase your chances for  greater success.

Collecting a decision( follow up)

After you’ve presented your opportunity etc, now it’s time to collect a decision. All you’re looking for after the information was seen is a yes I’m in or no, I’m not. This is the time to adress objections, not beg, chase or convince. Many people don’t collect the decision because they feel like they’re bothering the prospect. They think that if the prospect is serious, they will reach out to them instead. Sometimes that works, most times it doesn’t. You have to actively collect the decision, it’s your opportunity.

Consistency

A lack of Consistency is probably the biggest reason why people don’t get anywhere in this industry. They’ll start something and go really hard in their business for two weeks, fizzle out and then say this doesn’t work. You have to remain consistent even when you don’t yet see the results you want. A lack of consistency is the reason why people have been losing the same 30 pounds for the last five years. It’s normally due to a lack of focus.

In conclusion, these are the four steps to network marketing success that most marketers neglect: inviting, presenting, collecting a decision, consistency. The more you do the things mentioned above, the better you’ll get. Jim Rohn says repetition is the mother of skill. Your sponsor is not responsible for getting the work done.   1. Become the person you want to work with. People want to work with quality people of like mind who they can get results with. They want to work with people they can trust.
  2. You become more attractive when you share engaging posts, inspirational posts, results and success posts.
  3. The third way you become more attractive is by sharing marketing tips that can help someone even if they are not business partners with you.

Two reasons why people are not successful in MLM

It is said that approximately 97% of people who are in a network marketing or MLM company do not succeed. The question I have is why are not more people succeeding in network marketing? If people are succeeding, that means anyone can succeed. Then I looked at the business habits that the individuals who are successful have, and the habits that unsuccessful people have.

There was a HUGE difference. The successful ones were reading books, exercising, creating content and connecting with 10plus people per day.  Then I looked at the habits of the unsuccessful. They did no reading, didn’t create any content or give away anything of value. Rarely, did the unsuccessful connect with people. They worked their businesses when they felt like it. Nor did they attend conferences or training calls.

I want to address two of the popular reasons why people are unsuccessful and hopefully get people to see what they need to work on.

Starting and stopping

when most people get started in MLM, they tell everyone they know about this great opportunity they found. They’re reading the books that their sponsor recommended, listen to training calls and save some money to attend live events. After hearing no repeatedly and getting no shows, slowly network marketers become lazy and complacent with their business. Too much rejection and adversity causes them to stop working. So they take a break and that break turns into quitting.

Starting and stopping doesn’t build momentum. It actually stops your growth personally and professionally. There is no way to achieve any goal by starting and stopping. In addition to that, it becomes a habit. Starting and stopping leads to network marketers to believe that this business doesn’t work especially after they “tried”working the business but nothing is working.

Have nothing to offer

Another reason why people are unsuccessful is because they have nothing to offer. Most reps only have a company link as every other rep and nothing more. You have to give people a reason to join you. A link is not enough. In order to successful in network marketing, especially online, you need to have something to offer. Some kind of training on how to build your business on Facebook for example, is very value. If you don’t have a training of your own, you can leverage someone else’s training.

When you have training material that shows how to build a business, prospects are going to say this guy knows what he’s talking about, and will more likely join you because you gave them ideas on how to build their business. Keep in mind that the training that you offer must be different than the training that your company offers.

MLM marketing training is important for your network marketing business. The reason why is because the training will give you information that will assist you to get results in your business. One of the common complaints in home business is that I did everything my sponsor told me to do, I made a list of friends and family, I went to the malls and coffee shops. I did cold calling, gave out flyers and  I’m still not getting sales. This causes people to give up and believe that there is some special tip that is not disclosed to the network marketing industry.

Doing the above things still work but they do not work for everyone because our schedules and life vary from person to person. They happen to be people of influence in many cases. Look at it like this, a person who is a director or manager in the corporate setting may have a rolodex of 1000 contacts. Because he is influential, he can make a phone call and get people to join him. In corporate America, people are making connections all day to advance their careers and companies. The average person doesn’t have those connections that’s why he or she is frustrated. For this reason, MLM marketing training is necessary to succeed in today’s network marketing era.

Another reason why you need marketing training is because a million people are promoting the same business program that you are marketing. Furthermore, there are millions more marketing something else. You are competing for the attention of your prospects along with other marketers. Why should they join you and not someone else?  Many networkers cannot answer that question so they continue to spam and pitch their business hoping to get someone to join them. You have to offer your prospect something that another marketer cannot. So because most network marketers have nothing else to offer besides a join me link, they continue to struggle. Number two: Attraction marketing.

The second thing your MLM success will depend on is attraction marketing. Attraction marketing is the future of network marketing. You have to attract people to you by branding yourself as an expert. Magnetic sponsoring occurs when you provide value. As you provide value over time, you can’t help but draw people to you. You need to have a blog and create some content. It can be a blog post or a video. Your blog site should tell your reader something about you and what it is you offer. Your blog should be able to address a problem that your target audience is struggling with.

Number three: building relationships.

The third thing that your MLM success depends on and is very important is building relationships. The essence of network marketing is relationship building. People feel comfortable working with people they know and trust. Your primary goal is to build relationships. It is not just to sign up distributors. How can you sign up and retain distributors when you have no relationship with them? This is where many new reps miss it. This is also what causes them to quit and say this is a scam. Any thinking person would be hesitant to sign up and stay with a sponsor who refuses to build a relationship with them. Believe it or not, relationships count.

Daily Action Plan For Guaranteed Success

When it comes to succeeding in network marketing, there must be a daily action plan for guaranteed success. Your willingness to take action will result in your success or lack thereof. Taking action and succeeding in one day doesn’t occur in one day. You must take consistent daily action. At the end of the day, you have to ask yourself, what did I do today to move me forward in my business tomorrow?

Many new reps neglect the action part. They only prospect their friends, family and co-workers. As soon as they get rejected, they say these deals don’t work. Network marketing is not a deal, like let’s make a deal or something. Network marketing is a business. It is a plan that can give us financial freedom in due time if we allow it. So what is the daily action plan for guaranteed success? There are daily action plans that include both passive and active strategies.

I will go over a few of them. A passive strategy is called indirect prospecting. A video, blog or an ad is an example of this kind of strategy. Many new beginners focus mainly on this type of marketing. This is because there is no face to face contact and rejection. You can succeed with this strategy but it takes time.

An active strategy is called direct prospecting. Talking face to face, handling out product information, cold calling, attending network events are examples of this plan. This is the painful part of the business because you have to get out of your comfort zone to talk to people. We all come from different walks of life. Many of us have emotional baggage that we bring to the home business industry. This baggage contributes to us quitting at the slightest hint of resistance, and calling network marketing a scam.

I believe you should use a direct(active) and indirect(passive) strategy to promote your business. They can be paid or free. Both strategies can generate leads and get eyeballs on your content and business program.

Do some marketing training as well. Experiment with different methods to see which one works best for you. Be creative and most important don’t quit.

Where To find Prospects And What To Say To Them

A common issue that people have in network marketing is where to find prospects and what to say to these prospects. The challenge is getting those individuals to be open enough to look at some information that could improve the quality of their lives. People by nature, are skeptical so they feel that anything that goes against their conditioned based way of thinking is a scam. We have to present our products and services in a way that will peak their interest and at the same time, reduce their resistance.

I want to share a cold market tip and a warm market tip on where to find prospects for your products and opportunity. I also want to provide information on what to say to candidates when you meet them.

Cold market

A good place to find prospects is at a department store like targets for example. Strike up a conversation with the sales rep then say what’s the starting salary here? (the sales rep is going to say whatever the salary is which is usually not enough). Then you say, is that enough to live on without needing a second job? (they will most likely say no). Then you say, if I could help you make enough money to live on without needing a second job would you be open to looking at some free information? (they are most likely going to say yes, even if they are lying to you because they have a problem).

Warm Market

Warm market people includes friends, family and associates. Now there are some of you who may be saying, I don’t want to talk to friends, family or associates. Let me ask you a question. Are you confident and believe in your products and opportunity? If so, why wouldn’t you want to share them with people who matter most to you? Lets say you have a friend name John. You say John, I need your opinion on something. (He is going to say what is it). You say I have a presentation for a business that I just started. Can you look at it and tell me what you like about it? (John says yes). You hand John a DVD, CD or link to your presentation. Then you say how soon will you be able to look at the information? (John may say tonight at 7pm). Then you say ok John, I will call you back at 8pm and we will talk about what you liked.

There are many ways to get prospects to view your material. It only requires a little brainstorming. Networking events are filled with potential business partners that you can share business with. Bookstores are filled with people more than ever. These individuals are hungry for information. You want to go to the self improvement section because the home business industry thrives off personal development and is built with this kind of training. Trade shows, expos and flea markets are also a great sources of leads. People flock to these events looking for things to buy and people to meet.

In conclusion, prospects are all around us. We just have to learn what to say, how to say it, and also importantly when to say it. Obviously, we are going to hear a lot of nos. It doesn’t necessarily mean we are doing the business wrong. It only means that we haven’t heard enough nos. Instead of saying I have no prospects to converse with, look to your left and to your right and you will see an abundance of people who will benefit greatly from your products and services.
