Is building a business offline still effective?

In today’s post, I want to talk about whether or not building your business offline is still effective. Currently, there is a train of thought in the industry that says old school network marketing is dead. Many online “gurus” say that cold calling is dead or the three feet rule is old news. Nothing could be further from the truth. Those strategies still work and always will as long as people exist. No someone may say “wait a minute, I live in a town of only a thousand people, how could that work for me”? The answer is to use online strategies, work your town and go out of town if that is realistically doable.

In my opinion, attraction marketing doesn’t mean that you completely disregard human interaction. Network marketing is still a face to face business. If you think about it, all of the top seven figure earners in MLM built their business offline first and used attraction marketing to leverage their success and credibility. I’m a fan of online network marketing by all means. I just believe that traditional marketing produces results because we are in the people business. People are online and offline.

I also believe that what you are marketing makes a difference. Some products and services are better promoted offline. For example if you have a physical product that you can give out as a sample  you will have better success. People love the free things so all you have to do is give your product out. Online, people are a little reluctant to give you their personal information. This is because they do not know you and you lack credibility.

In conclusion, building your business online is still effective because people still like to interact with each other. Can you imagine a world where there is no human contact and everything you need must be done online? No matter whether you are doing offline or online marketing, you still have to sell. Unfortunately, many online marketers think you don’t have to sell. That’s simply not true. You are selling business systems, sales funnels. Don’t allow technology to rob you of building real and lasting relationships.

So here are some ways to become attractive to your prospects.

  1. Become the person you want to work with. People want to work with quality people of like mind who they can get results with. They want to work with people they can trust.
  2. You become more attractive when you share engaging posts, inspirational posts, results and success posts.
  3. The third way you become more attractive is by sharing marketing tips that can help someone even if they are not business partners with you.

The reason why you do not need a marketing budget is because of social media. All over the Internet, people are making hundreds of thousands of dollars using free strategies on the Internet. All you need to do is pick a platform that you want to build on and master it. The key is to consistently provide value to your target market.

Video is hot right now and more and more people are realizing the power of making videos. Making videos will help you to grow as an entrepreneur as you provide valuable content to your viewers. Best of all, you can record and share your videos for free. No budget required.

Blogging

Even though everyone and their mom has a blog, blogging is still a good choice. Blogging just like video, can be done without any marketing budget. You can provide ideas and solutions that helps your reader. Blogging is a great way to draw people to you so they can learn more of what you do. Your blog should be packed with content. You can collect leads and recruit people off of your blog!

Relationships

The best of them all, is relationships. The reason I say the best is because connecting with people is what counts. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is how many people did you connect with. Building relations cost you nothing especially on Facebook. Whether your business is online or not, you are in the people business. Relationships count.

The Greatest Story Ever Told, Is The Story Of YOU

I love stories. Even as a child, there was nothing like going to bed on a good story. Naturally, children never want to go to sleep until you mention the word bedtime story. Even still, you may have to give them a sales presentation on why they need to come to bed. Some of my favorite bed time stories were “Charlotte’s Web” and “Jack and the Beanstalk”. Who could ever forget “The Three Little Pigs” and ’Little Red Riding Hood”?

Stories are powerful. They stimulate the part of the brain that influences imagination and creativity. As adults, we have stories to tell. Not necessarily childhood stories, but stories of experience. Stories are able to inspire generations. The greatest story ever told, is the story of you. I love to hear stories of how people overcame circumstances to accomplish great things. Even though the odds were heavily stacked against them.

In a world of uncertainty, a good story comes in handy. No matter what you are going through, there is a story inside of you. Don’t let your message die. Many people go to their graves with their message still inside of them. Understand that there is glory in your story. The greatest story ever told, is the story of you. You are unique and special in every way.

In the business world, it is said that facts tell, stories sell. Someone is waiting for your words. Many successful people got their start from humble beginnings. Some of these individuals were bankrupt, faced foreclosure and unemployment. However, they turned their mess into a message. What makes their stories real, is that the common man can relate to them.

In order to become successful in this business, your MLM success will depend on several factors. Many new reps want to know how to build a business without having to chase friends and family. They want to know exactly what it will take to build their organization. I’ve written down a few things that I believe will help you in your quest for MLM success.

Number one: start with personal development.

The purpose of personal development is to help you gain the mindset of an entrepreneur. As a home business owner, it is imperative to have mental toughness when things do not go as planned. You want to have a thick skin when people tell you no. personal growth books, articles and audios were created for your access and convenience. The books are too numerous to name here. Go to amazon.com or your local book store and search for the self improvement. There, you will find a huge selection of books that will be of interest.

Number two: Attraction marketing.

The second thing your MLM success will depend on is attraction marketing. Attraction marketing is the future of network marketing. You have to attract people to you by branding yourself as an expert. Magnetic sponsoring occurs when you provide value. As you provide value over time, you can’t help but draw people to you. You need to have a blog and create some content. It can be a blog post or a video. Your blog site should tell your reader something about you and what it is you offer. Your blog should be able to address a problem that your target audience is struggling with.

Number three: building relationships.

The third thing that your MLM success depends on and is very important is building relationships. The essence of network marketing is relationship building. People feel comfortable working with people they know and trust. Your primary goal is to build relationships. It is not just to sign up distributors. How can you sign up and retain distributors when you have no relationship with them? This is where many new reps miss it. This is also what causes them to quit and say this is a scam. Any thinking person would be hesitant to sign up and stay with a sponsor who refuses to build a relationship with them. Believe it or not, relationships count.

In conclusion, your MLM success depends on these three factors. Obviously, there are also others. Implementation must take place after education. Network marketing is not easy. It takes time. However, you must be committed to the process.

Most entrepreneurs advertise their business program all over face book. I’ve done this myself, then stopped. I saw too many people already doing the same thing. In addition, the majority of the programs were the same. Think about this: if ten people are advertising the same business, what separates them from each other?

Why should I join John’s business instead of Joe’s program? This is the question that many prospects have. It is difficult for them to make a decision. It is also a face book mistake that marketers make online. Let’s talk about Face book marketing mistakes.

Face book marketing mistake #1: Advertising the same training programs.

On many face book business pages, reps advertise the same products. Even though their products offer value, there is no difference that would make someone want to join. Instead of advertising the same merchandise out right, mask it with your content. Furthermore, your content should be original.

It is a well known fact that people do not like to be sold. When you mention your business at the initial contact, it raises a red flag in your prospect’s mind. When you focus on building a relationship over time, you will begin to gain your prospect’s trust. If your prospect wants some information about your business, all they have to do is look at your face book page or ask you about it.

Face book marketing mistake #3: Getting too personal with prospects at the beginning.

Prospecting online has the same objective as prospecting offline. You want to see if your prospect is open to viewing some business information. The problem is that new distributors are trying to get too personal with prospects upfront. Even after you build relations, understand that it’s a business relationship. Personal relationships are different and require quality time. People naturally will not let you into their lives until they trust you completely. You do not need to know where your prospect’s wife works or the name and location of their kids school. That’s not a question to ask especially on face book.
