The six sins of network marketing

oh no not you again image

In networkmarketing, there are rules that you must follow in order to be successful in your business. If you deviate from the rules, you will become frustrated and quit. There are no shortcuts however, people continue to look for them. There are six sins of network marketing that will cost you time and money. The six sins goes as follows:

  1. Jumping from opportunity to opportunity.

I’ve been there. There are people who are in as much as five different companies. Usually what happens is a prospect joins a company and after a while, gets bored. So he or she finds another company to join and the cycle continues. A solid career can not be built this way.

2.  Marketing but not prospecting.

Network marketing activities includes prospecting. Most people spend more time marketing because it’s easier and less painful. Marketing is supposed to compliment your prospecting. You should have a set number of people that you will talk to everyday. This is called projecting. You are projecting the amount of people you will talk to daily, weekly, monthly and yearly. Will you meet your goals every day? Probably not. But you must hold yourself accountable to meet your numbers.

3.  Posting your company products, images all over social media.

Like I said in previous blog posts, people don’t care about your products as much as you do. Continuously posting pictures of your products will not move people to buy them. Every company has been seen before. Maybe not by you,but by someone else. What would make your products more valuable is if they were the only ones that could do what they claim. If that were so, there would be such a demand that manufacturers would have a hard time supplying the need.

4.  Making income claims and/or statements.

At some point or another, you or someone you know, received a call like this: “hi my name is Jill and I was given your name as someone who was looking to make 3 to 5000 dollars per week. Is that something your still interested in?”. When you make income claims, you push people away from you instead of pull. Most people are skeptical as it is, so making these kind of statements will contribute to the stigma on MLM.

5.  Un professionalism.

A big problem I see online from network marketers, is unprofessional behavior and language. This is a business and should be approached as a business. Ratchet, hood and ghetto behavior should be kept away from this industry. It has no place in this business. I suspect sponsors are looking to sign anyone up just to make a buck. I don’t mean to judge anyone, and I know people come from different walks of life. This is where personal development comes in. We must edify the industry with a positive mental and professional attitude.

6. Begging, chasing and convincing.

Network marketing is a profession of opportunity, prosperity and stability. You are not in the business of begging people to look at your opportunity. The key word is opportunity. It’s up to your prospects to recognize what you have. You have the goose that lays the golden eggs. Do not lower your dignity for the sake of getting someone to watch your presentation. Do not chase people around online. Short story, I was friends with a guy on Facebook. Every chat we had, he would try to convince me to join his program, saying “its only $18 to join, just sign up”. So I got fed up and unfriended him. He started sending me friend requests and I ignored them. Don’t beg, chase or convince people. If you do, you will convince them to stay.

In conclusion, these are the six sins of network marketing. There are more. When we commit these sins, we separate ourselves from success.

Two reasons why people are not successful in MLM

image

It is said that approximately 97% of people who are in a network marketing or MLM company do not succeed. The question I have is why are not more people succeeding in network marketing? If people are succeeding, that means anyone can succeed. Then I looked at the business habits that the individuals who are successful have, and the habits that unsuccessful people have.

There was a HUGE difference. The successful ones were reading books, exercising, creating content and connecting with 10plus people per day.  Then I looked at the habits of the unsuccessful. They did no reading, didn’t create any content or give away anything of value. Rarely, did the unsuccessful connect with people. They worked their businesses when they felt like it. Nor did they attend conferences or training calls.

I want to address two of the popular reasons why people are unsuccessful and hopefully get people to see what they need to work on.

Starting and stopping

when most people get started in MLM, they tell everyone they know about this great opportunity they found. They’re reading the books that their sponsor recommended, listen to training calls and save some money to attend live events. After hearing no repeatedly and getting no shows, slowly network marketers become lazy and complacent with their business. Too much rejection and adversity causes them to stop working. So they take a break and that break turns into quitting.

Starting and stopping doesn’t build momentum. It actually stops your growth personally and professionally. There is no way to achieve any goal by starting and stopping. In addition to that, it becomes a habit. Starting and stopping leads to network marketers to believe that this business doesn’t work especially after they “tried”working the business but nothing is working.

Have nothing to offer

Another reason why people are unsuccessful is because they have nothing to offer. Most reps only have a company link as every other rep and nothing more. You have to give people a reason to join you. A link is not enough. In order to successful in network marketing, especially online, you need to have something to offer. Some kind of training on how to build your business on Facebook for example, is very value. If you don’t have a training of your own, you can leverage someone else’s training.

When you have training material that shows how to build a business, prospects are going to say this guy knows what he’s talking about, and will more likely join you because you gave them ideas on how to build their business. Keep in mind that the training that you offer must be different than the training that your company offers.

Don’t Get Distracted By Other Opportunities

image

When we get started in network marketing or affiliate marketing, we are on fire for the industry. We tell everyone we know about this great opportunity we just joined and how there is a ground floor opportunity for them if they sign up right now. Then after awhile, things begin to change. We no longer stay excited about our business program. Thoughts of quitting began to sink in. It’s time to join something else. Since we’re not making sales, it must be the company(not us). We start looking at the greener grass instead of getting off our a**. The problem is that we are not focused.

We read stories of how other people are crushing it and become envious. We all go through this in our networking careers. We join program after program and are still not making any money. Not even on our auto ship. Instead we become opportunity whores and don’t even know it. Don’t get distracted by other opportunities. Stay focused and build the one you are currently in. Do not allow other networkers discourage you from your MLM into theirs. I don’t care how great the compensation plan is.

image

If you can’t or won’t build your current business for whatever reason, you will have similar problems in any business you join. I’m just saying. A consistent work ethic is still required. It is also important to note that your product is not your product. Your product is people.

In conclusion, don’t get side tracked with different opportunities. Stay focused and build the one that you are currently in. Network marketing is a wonderful industry. So wonderful that it requires work. If another representative tries to smooth you over into his or her business, think about what why you got started in your company.

Why Do Network Marketers Fail?

Why do network marketers fail? People fail in network marketing for different reasons. Allegedly, network marketing has a failure rate of about 97%. Network marketing is primarily about creating relationships. Part of life involves connecting with people. From childhood through adulthood, you engaged in relationships. You developed these relationships on a personal and professional level. So there should be no excuse.

A reason why people fail in network marketing is certainly not because of their sponsor. It has nothing to do with their comp plan or products and services. So what are the reasons or excuses behind the failure rate? If people are succeeding, then the business works. Having failed in a few businesses, I feel qualified to give my two cents on why people fail. Here are my reasons why network marketers fail in MLM.

Reason #1. Lack of consistency.

If you are marketing your business off and on, you will never succeed in network marketing. This business requires commitment to diligence. You may not be able to build your business every single day, but you should be consistent. If you look into the activities of the so called “97ers”, you will find that 97% of the time they are doing nothing. You have to do something to move forward. It’s that simple. So, a lack of consistency is a reason why people fail in network marketing.

Reason #2 Only talking to friends and family.

Only talking to friends and family will keep you broke. This is because most friends and family are broke. Not financially, but mentally. Most of our loved ones do not have an interest in starting their own business. In addition, they do not care about how great your company is. Especially if you are just starting out and not yet making any money. Earning a top earner salary requires you to expand your circle of influence beyond your friends and family.

Reason #3 No Time.

Many distributors want to build their business but they don’t have the time. This was my problem also. Working 5-6 days a week can be tiring on the body and mind. You come home to cook dinner and do homework with the kids. After all this work is done, particularly if you are a single parent, the last thing you want to do is build a business. In order for you to become successful you need to find the time. Use some of your lunch break. If possible, ask your boss if you can leave early here and there. You could also leverage the internet with a marketing lead generation system to assist you to build your business. Bottom line, you have to find the time somehow, to make network marketing work.

Reason #4 No money to buy product.

I assume that in every company, there is a monthly product commitment required. The commitment is necessary to keep your business centers open for qualification. If your company offers a consumable product, you need to buy some for personal use, retailing and sampling. Not having money to buy products will cause you to fail. You must invest in your business.

In conclusion, these are the reasons why network marketers fail. There are other reasons however, the ones listed are pretty common. Be consistent and communicate with people other than your friends and family. Allocate some time to build your business, even if it’s on your lunch break. Find ways to buy product to consume, retail and make money.

Your MLM Success Will Depend On These Three Things

MLm success images 1

In order to become successful in this business, your MLM success will depend on several factors. Many new reps want to know how to build a business without having to chase friends and family. They want to know exactly what it will take to build their organization. I’ve written down a few things that I believe will help you in your quest for MLM success.

Number one: start with personal development.

The purpose of personal development is to help you gain the mindset of an entrepreneur. As a home business owner, it is imperative to have mental toughness when things do not go as planned. You want to have a thick skin when people tell you no. personal growth books, articles and audios were created for your access and convenience. The books are too numerous to name here. Go to amazon.com or your local book store and search for the self improvement. There, you will find a huge selection of books that will be of interest.

Number two: Attraction marketing.

The second thing your MLM success will depend on is attraction marketing. Attraction marketing is the future of network marketing. You have to attract people to you by branding yourself as an expert. Magnetic sponsoring occurs when you provide value. As you provide value over time, you can’t help but draw people to you. You need to have a blog and create some content. It can be a blog post or a video. Your blog site should tell your reader something about you and what it is you offer. Your blog should be able to address a problem that your target audience is struggling with.

Number three: building relationships.

The third thing that your MLM success depends on and is very important is building relationships. The essence of network marketing is relationship building. People feel comfortable working with people they know and trust. Your primary goal is to build relationships. It is not just to sign up distributors. How can you sign up and retain distributors when you have no relationship with them? This is where many new reps miss it. This is also what causes them to quit and say this is a scam. Any thinking person would be hesitant to sign up and stay with a sponsor who refuses to build a relationship with them. Believe it or not, relationships count.

In conclusion, your MLM success depends on these three factors. Obviously, there are also others. Implementation must take place after education. Network marketing is not easy. It takes time. However, you must be committed to the process.
