Is building a business offline still effective?

In today’s post, I want to talk about whether or not building your business offline is still effective. Currently, there is a train of thought in the industry that says old school network marketing is dead. Many online “gurus” say that cold calling is dead or the three feet rule is old news. Nothing could be further from the truth. Those strategies still work and always will as long as people exist. No someone may say “wait a minute, I live in a town of only a thousand people, how could that work for me”? The answer is to use online strategies, work your town and go out of town if that is realistically doable.

In my opinion, attraction marketing doesn’t mean that you completely disregard human interaction. Network marketing is still a face to face business. If you think about it, all of the top seven figure earners in MLM built their business offline first and used attraction marketing to leverage their success and credibility. I’m a fan of online network marketing by all means. I just believe that traditional marketing produces results because we are in the people business. People are online and offline.

I also believe that what you are marketing makes a difference. Some products and services are better promoted offline. For example if you have a physical product that you can give out as a sample  you will have better success. People love the free things so all you have to do is give your product out. Online, people are a little reluctant to give you their personal information. This is because they do not know you and you lack credibility.

In conclusion, building your business online is still effective because people still like to interact with each other. Can you imagine a world where there is no human contact and everything you need must be done online? No matter whether you are doing offline or online marketing, you still have to sell. Unfortunately, many online marketers think you don’t have to sell. That’s simply not true. You are selling business systems, sales funnels. Don’t allow technology to rob you of building real and lasting relationships.

It’s not really about your product or service. It’s about the dream.

When people initially start a business, they base the product or service as the determining factor. While it is normal to base your decision on the product or service, it’s really not about your product or service. The majority of network marketing  companies are very good with exceptional products and services. As long as there is a market, you will have a profitable product and service.

When I first got started, I thought it was all about the product. I focused solely on getting people on the product hoping that they would become business partners after seeing how great my product made them feel. Don’t get me wrong, that technique still works. However, I quickly realized that no matter how “great” my product was, not everyone had an interest in it. Not to get off subject, but some people are very skeptical. The last thing you want to do is prove to a skeptic that your business works. They will prove to you that it doesn’t work by doing nothing.

As a marketer, I believe it’s important to not focus so much on the product or service but   focus on the dream.  It’s the dream that people want. They want to travel more and be home with their families. In addition, they want to spend their time without having a boss over their back(no offense to bosses). Network marketing gives you back your life so to speak. Most people don’t like their jobs nor do they like getting up early to go to them. It explains why so many people are grouchy in the morning.

In conclusion, it’s not so much about your product or your service. It’s about the dream. What would life be like if you were living your dream? What would it look like? Think about that for a moment. Make it as vivid as possible. When you assist other people to live their dream, you will live yours.

Why most people have a hard time building their business.

There is nothing more frustrating than wanting to build a business but getting no where. It seems like your dreams are rapidly fading before your very eyes. We know that building a business is hard however, we didn’t think it was this hard.

People have a hard time building their business for several reasons. I will go over some of the reasons that I have experienced. Building a business can seem like a daunting task. Friends and family offering ridicule etc.

so here are some of the reasons why people are having a hard time building their business:

No daily routine or lack of a daily activity.

If you want to succeed in business, you need a plan of action. At the end of the day, how many people did you talk to, mail samples/business info to? how many calls did you make? How many samples did you give out? If you are not moving forward in your business, you are moving backward by default.

Afraid to talk to strangers.

When we where young, we were told not to talk to strangers. It is no wonder why as adults, we don’t like to talk to strangers! There are times when we just don’t want to talk to anyone, but the big money is made dealing with people you don’t know. Of course only talking to friends and family will cause you to have a hard time in business. There are hundreds, even thousands of people who possibly want what you have to offer. But you gotta talk to them.

Unable to offer samples of the company product.

One thing people love is the word free. People love trying new products for free. Unfortunately, many companies do not offer a free service or product that consumers can try before they buy. This is not to say that you can’t do well if you don’t offer samples. I just believe that if you have a product that’s in big demand and you can offer as a sample such as this product, you will really do well faster depending on your work ethic etc.

No self belief or confidence.

Network marketing is a simple business. It’s not easy, but it’s simple. If you are going to have even a little bit of success, you must believe you can have it. The problem is most home business owners do not believe which is why their actions are a result of what they believe. You can read all of the books on confidence and belief but the only way to gain confidence and belief is to do that which you fear period.

Think they have to know it all.

Yet another reason why most people have a hard time building their business is because they think they need to know it all. Every company has a presentation be it an online video or DVD that you can use to educate a prospective candidate. You never need to know everything. Utilize tools to answer your prospects questions.

No money to invest in own business and oneself.

In business, you need to invest and re-invest in your business. There is really no such thing as something for nothing especially when you are thinking long term. It amazes me how so many people are looking for deals that require no initial investment on their part. You cannot have success with a real business unless you are willing to pay a price. The same goes for oneself. You should be reading books that motivate, educate and inspire you. Most companies offer a recommended reading list. The list is compiled with books that have influenced millions of men and women. You should be reading something regularly regarding business and personal development.

In conclusion, these are some of the reasons why most people have a hard time building their business. If you treat your business like a hobby, it will pay you like a hobby. We have a hard time because we make it hard. A few simple disciplines will go a long way.

Your Daily Routine

Success doesn’t occur from something that you do once. Success results from what you do on a regular basis. Most people come home from work and do what they have to do family wise but business wise, they do little to nothing. Maybe send an email or post a couple of internet ads. If you look at what successful people do and what unsuccessful people do, you’ll notice a huge difference.

At the end of the day, you must be able to account for the activity that you did. You are accountable for your daily routine. It’s funny how people say they don’t have time to do this or that, but they have time to watch TV. Then when you take an inventory of what they’re doing, the number is usually zero.

We all have busy lives. No one always has the perfect schedule. However, you are still accountable for maintaining your daily routine. With that being said, here are some tips for creating a daily routine:

  1. Get up an an hour earlier.
  2. Pray.
  3. Read a something on personal development.
  4. Create or share a piece of content.
  5. Exercise.
  6. Connect with more prospects.

These tips will assist you in increasing your chances for success. The main thing to do is be consistent.

Why People Are So Skeptical About Your Home Business Opportunity

Why do you think people are so skeptical about your home business opportunity? It may not be your home business per se, it may the industry in general. Before you got started in your opportunity, you were probably skeptical also. You saw guys standing in front of rolls royces, mansion in the background, wearing thousand dollars suits right? You probably thought these guys were con artists or something. Furthermore, your brother in law got into one of those deals and lost his shirt on it. This is a common story for many people.

It is important to understand that there are good and bad business programs, just like anything else in life. It is your responsibility to get educated and use a little common sense so you will not lose your shirt. People naturally, are very skeptical. That’s just how it is. People think if something is too good to be true, it probably isn’t. Well the truth is, if something sounds to good to be true it probably is, assuming you have the right education. That’s the problem. People don’t have the right education. This is a contributing factor as to why so many people are skeptical about your home business opportunity.

When home business entrepreneurs hear such skepticism, it causes even them to doubt whether or not this industry really works. The industry works if you work. You don’t need another business, you need to go to work. You don’t need another marketing platform, you just need to build relationships first and stop bringing up your business unless asked. We throw up on people and haven’t even established rapport. Don’t seek to recruit everyone you contact. It’s okay just to be friends.

In conclusion, this is why most people are so skeptical about your home business opportunity. Handle yourself professionally and stop begging, chasing and convincing. It really doesn’t work.

Network marketing is for people who “get it”.

It is a fact that most people hate their jobs. They hate fighting traffic to go to work. Many don’t like their jobs or the money they make. They complain about their boss, yet they stay there. As of late we have seen cracks in the world’s financial system. Nations that were once stable, are now unstable.

Austerity, which is just a fancy word for saying you’re screwed, is sweeping throughout the nations. The security that people thought they once had, is no longer. Actually, security never really existed. So now, people are trying to figure things out. How do we get our jobs back? Well, the jobs are not coming back. Sorry folks, just ain’t happening. If our jobs were brought back home, corporations would lose a vast amount of profits by not being able to exploit cheap labor.

People livelihoods are being threatened. What are our politicians going to do? Nothing, period. Since our manufacturing base is not coming back and no one has our back, the question should be, what are WE going to do?

The 1950’s was the industrial age. Although job security was more stable in those days, people still valued job freedom. They understood that working for someone else would never get them the quality of life they desired. They “got it”. Even in those times, folks knew there was a better way. Working 20-30 years, hoping to get a retirement check in the end was risky. Especially when retirement payouts are not guaranteed. Network marketing was established around the 1950’s. It was the best alternative for people who sought change and to make a difference. Fast forward to today with the recent events. People realize that something is wrong with our economic base. It is  one of the reasons why so many people are choosing network marketing. They “get it”.

Folks are sick and tired of getting up every morning to do the same thing. The daily stresses of working various jobs, combined with exhausting commutes and poor diet, contribute to heart attacks and other illnesses. That’s why network marketing is the business for people who “get it”. They get the fact that trading hours for dollars will keep them broke. They get the truth that downsizing and outsourcing jobs are real problems that do not get addressed.

In conclusion, network marketing is for people who “get it”. Hopefully, there will come a time when people break free from the mental conditioning that was imposed on us through traditional schooling. I believe that one thing man wants more than anything, is his freedom. Freedom from a job that stifles his creativity and quality of life. Network marketing is for people who “get it”.

Many people are looking for a change. A change in a job or a change in a residential location. Change is something that we all need and want. A man would like to change his car every three five years. A woman would like to change her wardrobe as often as possible! Alternatives are important for human satisfaction and enjoyment. The reason why we need change is because the mind adapts to routine. Once that happens it’s time for a change.

I believe that the best way to get your change is through MLM. So many people are looking for something that will give them options in life. People settle for less instead of more. I believe they are afraid of success or refuse to commit to the process. In my opinion, the last chance for the common man is still MLM. The reason why is because your income is not based on what you do in your geographical area like your job for example. You can be home sleeping and someone from the other side of earth buys your products. KA-CHING! You just made money without doing any work.

In conclusion, you can create your change through MLM. The only thing stopping you is you. The home business industry is not just about the products. It’s about the dream. A dream deferred makes the heart sick. Although there are stigmas associated with Network marketing, we must personally work to eliminate them. You don’t have to chase friends and family. You don’t have to hang out at shopping malls, bothering people who are there to shop and have fun. As you create change for yourself, you will create change for others.
